LAW ENFORCEMENT
Law enforcement is not above the people — it is accountable to them.
The ANSR views police as essential to a lawful, orderly society — tasked with protecting the nation, upholding the law, and defending the rights of citizens.
The role is serious. So are the standards.
Police must be disciplined, visible, and trusted — not feared, politicised, or used as tools of coercion.
We will ensure law enforcement is bound by duty, held to account, and embedded in the communities they serve — not as enforcers, but as guardians of public order.
Respect is earned through service, not force.
Order must be visible — and it must be just.

The ANSR Party will restructure & implement Sheriff’s Offices as locally accountable law enforcement institutions embedded within each Local Government Area (LGA).
Sheriffs will be either publicly elected or appointed by local councils, drawn from trusted community members, and insulated from political affiliations or external influence. They will oversee civil enforcement, maintain public order, and manage summary offences in coordination with State Police forces.
Deputy Sheriffs will serve as peace officers and civil agents — assisting in enforcement duties without overlapping into criminal investigations, which remain under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff or State Police.
Each Sheriff’s Office will operate within a codified legal framework, guided by strict ethical standards, formal training, and joint oversight from both community and government review bodies.
This reform strengthens community safety, relieves pressure on state police, and returns civil law enforcement to trusted local hands — ensuring law and order is delivered by those who know and serve their own communities.
